Coffey is hiring for an experienced Mechanical Pipe Fitter specialising in water and wastewater systems, focusing on the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems that support water distribution, wastewater treatment, and stormwater management.
This role requires expertise in handling materials such as PVC, steel, HTP, and ductile iron, ensuring compliance with regulatory, safety, and environmental standards.
The Mechanical Pipe Fitter plays a key role in supporting critical infrastructure, including treatment plants and stormwater systems, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, functional solution
Key Responsibilities
- Understand and adhere to the Company Health and Safety Policy, always ensuring a safe working environment. Report equipment defects immediately.
- Lay out, cut, fit, and assemble pipes for potable water, sewage, stormwater, and treatment systems. Secure piping with appropriate supports and ensure leak-free connections using welding, brazing, soldering, or threading techniques.
- Install equipment such as pumps, flowmeters, manual & automated valves, water quality instrumentation and any other required equipment as per engineering drawing specifications.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings to ensure accurate system layout and adherence to project specifications.
- Secure piping systems with appropriate supports, hangers, and brackets, ensuring that systems are stable and meet design specifications.
- Conduct system tests to identify leaks, blockages, or malfunctions. Perform inspections for wear, corrosion, or damage to recommend repairs or upgrades.
- Diagnose and resolve system issues promptly. Perform repairs on damaged or malfunctioning piping in compliance with safety and environmental guidelines.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, and construction teams to meet project timelines. Provide input during planning meetings to support efficient execution.
