This role is available for an expert in the field of water treatment and/or wastewater & industrial effluent treatment. The role is ideally suited to an engineer with extensive experience in the development of process solutions in industrial and municipal settings, in accordance with specifications used in Ireland and the United Kingdom, along with a demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams.
This role requires a candidate with a strong work ethic, the ability to work independently, and proven problem-solving skills. As a Lead Process Design Engineer, you will provide strategic leadership in the design approach, identify smart ways of conducting process design work, and scan for risks and opportunities related to legislative changes. Your leadership will extend to mentoring junior design and project engineers. The Lead Process Design Engineer will integrate within our multi-disciplinary design team, and will manage the input/output of external process consultants through technical reviews, to develop robust design solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Managing design and technical resources to meet project requirements, standards and budgets, including both internal and external process design resources,
- Strategic planning of the process design approach, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and industry best practices,
- Develop and implement innovative and efficient design methodologies to enhance productivity and quality, leveraging new technologies,
- Continuously scan the regulatory environment to identify risks and opportunities related to legislative changes,
- Develop strategies to mitigate risks and seize opportunities, ensuring compliance and maintaining a competitive advantage,
- Managing the process design elements using commercial, contractual, programme/time awareness and technical expertise,
- Ensuring the design process recognises current legislation, standards and codes of practice where appropriate,
- Ensuring the designers comply with their duties in relation to Health and Safety in design, under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 (Ireland),
- Perform preliminary and detailed design of water/wastewater treatment plants based on provided data, achieving desired treatment criteria,
- Develop relationships with supply chain partners (products/services) to enhance design solutions,
- Ensuring design information is of the right quality and keeps pace with project timescales,
- Striving to eliminate health, safety and environmental risks in the design and financial risks during construction and/or operation,
- Consider Environmental Aspects and the Life-cycle perspective during the design process,
- Mentoring of staff, undertaking performance reviews and identification and justification of resource requirements,
- Working with other disciplines in Coffey such as other Design Leads and Delivery Leads to ensure solutions are understood and can be implemented,
- Attendance and reporting at meetings of senior management,
- Although the role is office based, occasional travel to project sites will be required as part of the role,
- Reporting to the Design Manager Ireland and supporting, the Head of Design and Director of Engineering regarding Coffey process design obligations.
