Job Summary

The Manufacturing Manager will oversee all manufacturing operations at Coftec’s new assembly facility in Athenry, Co. Galway. This critical role ensures efficient production processes, high-quality outputs, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will design and optimise manufacturing processes for electro-mechanical assemblies, establish standard operating procedures (SOPs), manage production teams, and drive lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives to enhance operational excellence. The Manufacturing Manager will also lead the establishment of the new assembly facility, including designing the facility layout and recruiting mechanical and electrical assembly teams. This position requires 100% onsite presence at the Athenry facility; remote/hybrid work is not possible.

Process Design and Optimisation

Design and optimise manufacturing processes for electro-mechanical assemblies, ensuring efficiency, quality, and scalability.

Standard Operating Procedures

Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs to standardise production workflows.

Team Management

Manage, mentor, and develop production staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Production Planning

Establish and monitor production and staffing plans to meet customer demand, deadlines, and quality standards.

Lean and 5S Initiatives

Drive lean manufacturing and 5S methodologies to minimise waste, improve workplace organisation, and enhance productivity.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless production and product delivery.

Resource Management

Oversee resource allocation, equipment maintenance, and inventory management to support production goals.

Continuous Improvement

Implement strategies to enhance operational performance and reduce costs.

Safety and Compliance

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all manufacturing activities.

Facility Establishment

Lead the establishment of the new assembly facility, including designing the facility layout and recruiting mechanical and electrical assembly teams.


About You

Qualifications and Experience

Requirement

Details

Education

Ideally hold a minimum of a Level 7 Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related discipline).

Experience

Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in manufacturing management, preferably in electro-mechanical assembly with custom-built industrial equipment.

Lean and 5S Knowledge

Strong practical knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and 5S methodologies.

Metal Fabrication

Knowledge of metal fabrication processes is highly advantageous.

Process Design

Proven ability to design manufacturing processes and establish SOPs.

Team Leadership

Demonstrated experience in managing production teams and driving a continuous improvement ethos.

Skills

Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Technical Proficiency

Proficiency in production planning and resource management tools.
