About The Role

Definition:

Be part of a Design Build team that ensures the treatment of water and wastewater to the required quality standards. Be willing to develop and learn within the role and have the flexibility and competence to manage multiple sites. Be responsible for managing the delivery of capital works for treatment plant upgrades including all programme, budget and quality aspects and to deliver commissioning works for Coffey across Ireland and the UK, for public and private sector clients. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage plant upgrades and maintenance at the various water/ wastewater treatment plant sites and liaise with supporting M&E teams to complete reactive and proactive maintenance.
  • Ensure correct compliance to required EC Directives, contractual and other company standards and procedures including Health & Safety.
  • Be available to address emergency situations in the form of assessment, evaluation, immediate remedial actions and permanent fixes.
  • Induct and manage outside sub-contractors when carrying out work on capital works at various sites, including the provision of detailed technical process information to strategic partners.
  • Engage with suppliers to source, specify and ensure timely and commercially efficient delivery of replacement equipment and other materials. Liaise with Finance Department to raise POs, pay invoices to suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Work with operations team to minimise impact of upgrade works and to manage process commissioning activities.
  • Help with the roll out of Coffey Water’s new SCADA system throughout their region.
  • Liaise and co-ordinate with O&M Management & Process Operations teams and team members on operating activities and to formulate effective process control.
  • Identify commercial and optimisation opportunities and execute commercial responsibilities.
  • Develop and issue operational procedures and maintenance plans specific to each site and identify critical spares list.
  • Develop and deliver training programmes for operational staff after plant upgrades or optimisation improvements.
  • Aid in the development of a structured maintenance and calibration scheduling programme for all the O&M sites.
  • Other duties as may arise from time to time.

 

Commissioning Responsibilities:

  • To plan, develop, co-ordinate and direct start-up activities for the water & wastewater project. Provide start-up assistance at the delivery teams.
  • To assist with the identification of hand over systems and the establishment of priorities and sequence of completion.
  • To review during the construction phase, the status of testing and punch listing to ensure systems are turned over to commissioning and start-up in a smooth, safe and efficient manner.
  • To interface with all stakeholders and keep them informed.
  • To prepare or direct the preparation of operations manuals and Safety Files.
  • To ensure that work being performed is within scope of services and within budget.
  • To input to project management, engineering, and construction to ensure start-up requirements are incorporated into water & wastewater project activities, including review of project designs and construction to ensure plant operability and operating personnel safety.
  • To meet with site delivery teams and ensure that the company commissioning procedure is adhered to.
  • To co-ordinate with client representatives to obtain approval on work as it is accomplished.
  • To review and approve key start-up methods, procedures, and schedules on assigned waste & wastewater project(s).
  • To contact project management teams at key points throughout projects to ensure that start-up aspects are considered and progressed to meet programme and quality targets.

 

About You

Requirements:

  • Degree/Diploma in Environmental Science, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is preferable but not essential.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Chartered status or working towards status.
  • Proven track record in delivering technical designs.
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments, mentoring and delegating duties to personnel under your supervision.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and 2D/3D CAD software.
  • Strong Problem solving and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Effective time management and communication skills.
  • Excellent oral and written reporting skills.
  • Good understanding of quality, environmental and safety management systems.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory aspects within the water and wastewater industry.
  • Full clean Irish driver licence.
  • Authorised to work in Ireland i.e. critical skills or stamp 4.
