Role Summary:
The postholder will support the Commercial teams in the delivery of projects in collaboration with Quantity Surveyors and the Senior Quantity Surveyor,
A Graduate Quantity Surveyor supports the commercial and cost‑management side of construction projects. Key responsibilities include assisting with cost estimates and budgets, measuring quantities from drawings, supporting tendering and procurement processes, and helping administer contracts such as JCT or NEC. They monitor project costs, prepare valuations and payment assessments, track variations and changes, and help compile final accounts. The role also involves site visits, progress monitoring, maintaining accurate project documentation, and working towards a professional chartership.
Responsibilities
- Collate information required for the cost/value management and to support claims management
- Assist with preparation, maintenance and agreement of Project accounts
- Assist with providing commercial and financial reporting information
- Ensure compliance with company standards and procedures in respect of Commercial activities
- Provide support for the subcontract procurement and management
- Assist with control of project documentation
- Provide support and collate information for the recording and assist with the management of change
- Collate information and provide support for the management and procurement of subcontractors in accordance with the company procedures
- Ensure that sub-contract payments are calculated in accordance with procedures and legislation
- Understand the contractual requirements of project documents including the roles and responsibilities of all involved and the notices required to record change etc
- Support the liaison with the client, client representatives and other 3rd parties on commercial issues
- Working in compliance with the contract management tools i.e. a site or similar, IFS or any such other management tool as required.
