Sustainability Manager

Department: Commercial / ESG
Reports To: Chief Commercial Officer 
Location: Flexible

We are now looking for a dedicated Sustainability Manager to champion this mission and drive our ESG ambitions forward.

Role Overview:

The Sustainability Manager will be responsible for shaping, implementing, and communicating Coffey’s sustainability vision. This role will lead the development of Coffey’s Sustainability Strategy/Charter and embed environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles across the business. The successful candidate will manage all sustainability-related reporting, external ratings, tender responses, and compliance obligations, ensuring Coffey maintains a strong and transparent sustainability profile.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy Development & Leadership
  • Develop, publish, and maintain Coffey’s Sustainability Strategy/Charter.
  • Set medium- and long-term ESG objectives aligned with business goals, including carbon reduction and resource optimisation.
  • Integrate sustainability considerations into core business operations and decision‑making.
Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Collect, analyse, and report sustainability data, including GHG Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
  • Prepare sustainability disclosures aligned to recognised frameworks such as GRI, TCFD, ESRS or other client‑driven standards.
  • Produce internal dashboards and external reports that track performance and highlight improvement opportunities.
Website & Communications Management
  • Develop and maintain the Sustainability section of the Coffey website, ensuring up‑to‑date, accurate content.
  • Communicate sustainability progress to internal and external stakeholders through reports, presentations, and updates.
  • Support employer branding by promoting Coffey’s ESG commitments.

Tender & Client Engagement

  • Respond to all tender pre‑qualification (PQQ) and ESG‑related client questions.
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise to commercial teams during bid development.
  • Maintain a library of up‑to‑date ESG statements, data, and case studies.

ESG Ratings & Certifications

  • Maintain and continually improve Coffey’s EcoVadis rating.
  • Contribute to the management and ongoing compliance of Coffey’s ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Ensure continuous alignment with environmental legislation and industry standards.

Operational Sustainability

  • Develop and implement waste reduction, resource efficiency, and renewable energy strategies.
  • Support teams in optimising sustainable practices across all projects.

Stakeholder Engagement & Training

  • Educate employees on sustainability policies, climate initiatives, and environmental awareness.
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders—including clients, supply chain partners, and regulators—on Coffey’s sustainability progress.
  • Foster a culture of environmental responsibility across the organisation.

Sustainable Supply Chain Management

  • Assess and monitor supplier sustainability performance.
  • Integrate environmental and ethical criteria into procurement decisions.
  • Support suppliers in meeting Coffey’s ESG expectations.

About You

Qualifications & Experience:

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Formal training or certification in ESG and Sustainability is strongly preferred.

Professional Skills

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with data analysis and visualisation tools.
  • Working knowledge of sustainability frameworks including GRI, ISO 14001, EcoVadis, TCFD, BREEAM, or LEED.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical data into engaging content.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Proven leadership capabilities and stakeholder management experience.

Experience

  • Experience creating or managing sustainability strategies, reporting, or programs.
  • Background in ESG reporting, environmental compliance, or sustainability consulting desirable.
  • Experience in tender or bid support is an advantage.
