Role Summary:
A Year in Industry (Construction Engineering) student, will support engineers and project teams with the planning, design and delivery of construction projects. The role offers hands-on experience both in the office and on site, developing technical, safety and project coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with engineering calculations, technical drawings, and design documentation.
- Support the preparation of method statements, risk assessments, and key construction documentation.
- Carry out material take‑offs, quantity measurements, and specification reviews.
- Participate in site inspections, surveys, and setting‑out activities under supervision.
- Conduct site walkovers, monitor progress on site, and record daily site data for reporting.
- Participate in daily briefings for the workforce and on-site management.
- Support safety checks, site audits, environmental monitoring, and safety documentation.
- Contribute to toolbox talks and promote a strong health and safety culture.
- Maintain project records, drawings, and documentation using CDE/project management systems.
- Assist with progress updates, dashboards, meeting minutes, and communication with suppliers/subcontractors.
- Support quality inspections, testing, snagging, and handover documentation.
- Compare completed works against drawings and specifications to identify changes and contribute to as-built documentation.
