Definition:
The Mechanical Design Engineer role is to provide support to the Coffey design team. He/ She will play an important part in liaising with internal & external design consultant teams, controlling and optimising the design concepts into buildable design with all aspects of the design of the mechanical equipment (fixed and rotating). As part of the Design Team the role carry the responsibility for providing support in all areas of Mechanical Engineering in the development of practical and efficient technical solutions that will deliver the design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, existing and new.
Responsibilities
- Producing practical and efficient design that will comply with requirements and adhere to the HSE standards.
- Preparation of design drawings through the project life cycle from Concept Design to For Construction issue.
- Assisting in cost estimation and select the most experience and reputable suppliers for valves, pumps, screens, air blowers, filters, fixed man access, centrifuges, pipe selection, materials and others.
- Supporting the Design Manager and Project Manager to ensure the successful delivery of robustly defined technical solutions
- Continuously involved in initial feasibility and scoping, through to the detailed design, to support for procurement, construction, commissioning and final handover of projects within the required timescales.
- Undertake production of technical reports, calculations, development of design and construction drawings and specifications in compliance with relevant industry standards. Ensure all solutions are safe to build, operate and maintain.
- Work closely with the all parties in the project team to ensure the right and innovative solution is delivered
- Liaise with the Design Manager and client and ensure that programmes and projects are managed effectively. Maintain communication and develop ongoing relationships with clients, stakeholders and customers as required.
