About The Role

Position Summary

The Head of Financial Reporting & Compliance is responsible for leading the company's financial reporting, statutory compliance, governance, and internal control framework across all business units. The role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting while supporting strategic business objectives within a project-driven construction and engineering environment.

The position plays a critical leadership role in maintaining financial integrity, strengthening governance, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and supporting the CFO, Executive Leadership Team,  and Board.

The role requires extensive experience in construction accounting, contract revenue recognition, multi-entity reporting, project controls, taxation, audit management, and risk governance.

Key Responsibilities

Group Reporting

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting process.
  • Produce consolidated management and statutory financial statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to Executive Leadership Team and Board.
  • Develop and continuously improve reporting packs, KPIs, and financial dashboards.
  • Manage consolidation across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions.

Statutory Reporting

  • Oversee preparation and submission of annual statutory accounts.
  • Maintain a robust financial control environment.
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Financial reporting standards
    • Corporate governance requirements
    • Tax legislation incl. RCT & CIS
    • Industry regulations
    • Group policies
    • Banking covenants
    • Anti-Money Laundering requirements
    • Companies Registration Office obligations

Construction & Engineering Accounting

  • Ensure correct accounting treatment of:
    • Long-term construction contracts
    • Joint ventures and consortium arrangements
    • Retentions
    • Work in Progress (WIP)
    • Earned Value reporting

Internal Controls

  • Own the Group Internal Control Framework.
  • Design and implement financial control policies and procedures.
  • Oversee:
    • Delegation of Authority Framework
    • Approval matrices
    • Segregation of duties
    • Fraud prevention controls

Risk Management

  • Support the CFO in maintaining the finance risk framework.
  • Identify financial and regulatory risks.
  • Implement mitigating controls.
  • Monitor compliance with company policies and procedures.

ERP Governance

  • Act as Finance Process Owner for ERP platform (IFS Cloud).
  • Ensure integrity of financial and project reporting data.
  • Drive reporting automation and digitalisation initiatives.
  • Improve month-end and year-end close processes.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop finance reporting and compliance teams.
  • Establish high-performance culture and accountability.
  • Develop succession plans within finance function.
  • Promote continuous improvement and best practice governance.
  • Support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, and business integrations.
