Position Summary
The ERP Product Manager is responsible for the strategic ownership, development, governance, and optimisation of the company's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform. This role acts as the bridge between business operations, finance, commercial, procurement, project delivery, and technology teams to ensure that the ERP system supports organisational objectives and delivers measurable business value.
The ERP Product Manager will define the ERP roadmap, prioritise enhancements, manage vendor relationships, oversee system integrations, and ensure the platform continuously supports the needs of a growing construction and engineering business.
The role is particularly critical in ensuring the ERP solution supports project controls, project financial management, procurement, plant management, HR, payroll, reporting, and business intelligence requirements.
The ideal candidate will combine ERP expertise with deep construction industry knowledge and possess the ability to translate business needs into practical system solutions. They will have experience managing enterprise platforms such as IFS Cloud within a project-based environment and will be comfortable engaging with both executive leadership and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
ERP Product Ownership
- Own the ERP product strategy and roadmap.
- Act as the primary business owner for the ERP platform.
- Ensure alignment between ERP capabilities and company strategic objectives.
- Manage system lifecycle planning, upgrades, enhancements, and feature releases.
- Develop business cases for ERP investments and improvements.
Business Process Optimisation
- Work with operational and functional leaders to identify process improvement opportunities.
- Ensure standardisation of business processes across all regions and business units.
- Challenge existing ways of working and drive process simplification.
- Champion best practice processes within project delivery and support functions.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with:
- Finance
- Commercial
- Procurement
- HSQE
- Pre Construction / Tendering
- HR
- Plant & Asset Management
- IT
- Executive Leadership Team
- Facilitate workshops to gather business requirements.
- Resolve conflicts between competing stakeholder priorities.
- Communicate ERP roadmap and progress to senior leadership.
ERP Enhancements and Change Management
- Maintain and prioritise enhancement backlog.
- Manage demand intake process.
- Define and document business requirements.
- Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Coordinate deployment of new functionality.
- Measure business outcomes from implemented changes.
Vendor and Partner Management
- Manage ERP vendor relationships.
- Evaluate new technologies and solutions.
- Negotiate support and licensing agreements.
- Monitor vendor performance against service level agreements.
- Coordinate external implementation partners and consultants.
ERP Governance
- Establish ERP governance framework.
- Chair ERP Steering Committee meetings.
- Define product ownership model.
- Ensure controls and compliance requirements are maintained.
- Manage ERP-related risks and mitigation plans.
Data & Reporting
- Promote data quality and data governance standards.
- Ensure ERP data supports management reporting requirements.
- Work closely with Finance and Power BI teams.
- Improve access to real-time project information.
- Support development of executive dashboards and KPI reporting.
Integration & Digital Strategy
Manage integration of ERP with:
- Power BI
- Payroll systems
- CRM platforms
- Document management systems
- Estimating systems
- Project management solutions
Support broader digital transformation initiatives across the organisation.
